Updating software on verizon phone
On Thursday, Verizon (vz) shifted course, posting a note on its website saying it would distribute the Note 7-killing update on Jan. The company did not explain its policy change, but again asked customers to stop using the flawed device.
A spokesman had no additional comment on the change."We want to make sure you can contact family, first responders, and emergency medical professionals during the holiday travel season," Verizon said on its web site.
I reset the phone to factory defaults, connected to Wi-Fi, disconnected to Wi-Fi, but nothing seemed to work.
Finally, inspiration struck and I solved the issue.
Push and hold the power button to turn the phone on. Press "Send."Push "2" when the Update menu begins to play.
Follow the system prompts, pressing "1" to confirm the update.

Once you have your new SIM card, you'll need to replace it with the one currently in your device. Every device will vary, but the basics are the same: Once you have the SIM replaced, check again for an update.

The only way to correct it is by replacing your phone's SIM card. So, before you waste any more time trying to get your phone updated, call your provider and tell them you need a replacement SIM card. If they instruct you to reset the phone to factory defaults, inform them that solution will not work.
Initially running on Android Kit Kat, the phone has now been upgraded to the official Marshmallow version.
While doing the update is easy and will usually not cause any problems there are instances when certain issues can occur.
