Your kindle software is updating
The Kindle uses the Amazon Whispernet service to download and install updates. If a problem occurs that disrupts this connection, the update fails to continue. That includes the first-generation Kindle Paperwhite. If you missed the March 22 yesterday's deadline for a software update, it may have stopped working properly.Amazon recently issued what it calls a "critical update" for Kindle e-readers.
And if you're not sure which version of the software it's running, you should check the following: Kindle fifth-generation/Kindle Keyboard: Press the Menu button on the home screen and select Settings. This update must be conducted before 22 March 2016.Below is a table showing which software your Amazon Kindle e-reader needs to be running.Drag and drop the new update file from your computer onto the Kindle drive.Do not drop the file into one of the folders within the Kindle drive. Monitor file transfer and disconnect: Check your file transfer progress to ensure file transfer to your Kindle is complete before disconnecting.
Search for your kindle software is updating:
• Plug the Kindle into its charging adaptor to ensure it has enough power to perform the update • Connect to Wi-Fi or use the built-in 2G/3G (see the table above for how you should connect) • From the home screen select Menu Check for Items • Leave your Kindle connected until the update is complete.
